SNES system loading...?

Question: I have had a SNES console for over a decade now and its always worked perfectly. Tonight I plugged it back in and I got a new game in it "Super Mario world" and it ran great. I had also gotten Castlevania IV and a Spider-man/x-men game. Note these news games are dusty and mine are in perfect shape. I put in castlevania and it won't work at all. Tried one of my games, it loads and everything. Then suddenly I have to switch around on games, sometimes they work, others they don't. I have a nintendo cleaner kit (never used) but I'm unsure of whether dust is the problem or worse. Before these new games I never had any trouble.

Answer: the reason they don't work is the same reason many people have trouble with nintendos. the pin connector doesn't age well, and needs to be replaced. after that, when you put in a game, you won't get a gray screen, and it'll never blink, and should work EVERY single time you use it. however, with a new pin connector, it is actually mandatory to open every snes game and clean them properly too however, as already pointed out, you'd need the right bit to open the snes in the first place. both the 'super nintendo security bit' and the 'snes 62 pin connector' can be found in online auctions - keep in mind that the nes security bit is smaller than the snes bit (i have both, and just went and double checked) -------- if it is ONLY the new games that are problems, you might be in for a little shock. the contacts, the gold colored metal bits that go into the snes, have been corroded, even if you couldn't see it. when you put the old games into your snes, you transferred some of that metal decay into your pin connector - that's why you always clean used games before YOU use them
